Lessons learned and main conclusions
People from local administrations said that for economic reasons it is very difficult to introduce renewable energies in public transport in the short term apart of any pilot projects using subsidies or grants. They are more interested in new services using ICT, mainly people from the most populated cities in Asturias (Gijón and Oviedo). Other municipalities located in the rural area are most interested in any kind of tool for sharing buses with different uses (for example, use free seats in school buses for other people for coming to the nearest cities instead of using taxis or private cars). There are good small companies that can offer these new services but a support scheme is necessary to work in this field. Also important is the dissemination activities to give useful information to end users.
